INTERVIEW INDONESIAN TRANS

Q. Pertama, bisakaha kamu perkenalkan lagu barumu “Bad Person”?

Kamu bahkan syuting video klip dengannya. Apa yang kamu rasakan?
A. Sejujurnya, sejak Jung Yonghwa dan aku menjadi siswa latihan bersama, kita selalu mengatakan “Ayo berduet suatu hari setelah debut.”

Apa arti gitar untukmu?

A. Sekarang aku menganggap dia sebagai bagian dari diriku. Bagian yang tak terpisahkan

Q. Adakah alat musik lain yang kau mainkan selain gitar?
A. Aku dapat bermain piano tapi tidak sebaik aku bermain gitar

Q. Gaya musikmu sepertinya sangat lyrical.

A. Ada grup bernama AOA di agensiku, FNC Entertainment.

A. Semuanya, semoga liburanmu menyenangkan. Tolong beri dukungan pada laguku “Bad Person”. Namaku Juniel. Terimakasih dan Selamat Natal

INTERVIEW ENG TRANS

Q. First, could you introduce for us your new song “Bad Person”?

A. The song “Bad Person” is an emotional pop song that expresses the feelings of a girl hurt from a breakup. <Juniel sings a verse of “Bad Person”>

Q. So we’ve heard that you won the Japanese version of “Super Star K”, “Nijiiro Super Nova”, not to mention you even were a local radio DJ in Japan. What was the reason for you to debut [and release music] in Korea before Japan? (Question from Indonesian listener Indah Intan Sari, and Arabic broadcast listener Amal)

A. The truth is, I didn’t go to Japan because I wanted to debut there first. I went because I wanted to live the indie music lifestyle in Japan, study the Japanese language, and study music there. As I was living in the indie music scene and studying Japanese, I was lucky enough to meet the right people and debut [in a way] in Japan first.

Q. When you first debuted in Korea, you got a lot of attention. You especially got a lot of attention for doing a duet called “Fool” with Jung Yong-hwa of CNBLUE which was on your debut mini-album, which Jung helped produce. You even shot the music video with him. How was it singing with him? (Question from Indonesian broadcast listener Dwiyan Anggraini)

A. Truthfully, ever since Jung Yong-hwa and I were training together, we would always say to each other, “Let’s one day, after we debut, do a duet together.” I don’t know how it happened, but I was so happy we got to do that duet on my debut album, I even got butterflies thinking, “This is really happening.” It was so great and I’m so thankful. <Juniel sings a verse of “Fool”>

Q. You’re especially famous for being a singer-songwriter that writes her own music. Where do you receive your inspiration? (Question from Indonesian listener Lydia Sari)

A. In actuality, I’m the type to think a lot to myself when writing my music. I sometimes look at nature while thinking, sometimes I’m reading a book. I’m the type to have all these thoughts about something good I read, and then want to express what I felt in a song.

Q. When most people think of “Juniel”, we also think of your “guitar”. What does the guitar mean to you? (Question from Vietnamese listener Le Kim Dung)

A. Now I simply think of it as a part of me. It’s an inseparable part of me.

Q. Are there any other instruments you play well aside from the guitar? (Question from Indonesian listener Latifah Khusnul Fauziah)

A. I’m not as good on it as I am the guitar, but I can play simple chords on the piano.

Q. Your typical music style seems to be very lyrical. Will you continue with this music style or do you want to try any other genres? (Question from Vietnamese listener Le Thao Linh)

A. I don’t want to be limited to one music genre. Because I also write music, I want to try out many diverse music styles, and in turn, try writing different music styles. Thus I don’t want to say I want to continue with one type of music.

Q. If you could be a member of a k-pop group, which group would it be? (Question from English broadcast listener Emy Shili Emna)

A. There’s a girl group called AOA in my agency, FNC Entertainment. They’re a group, a bit different from other girl groups, because they play instruments while also singing and dancing beautifully. Being that I also play instruments, I often wonder what it’d be like if I joined a group that played their own instruments.

Q. With Christmas approaching could you give your fans all over the world a nice greeting?

A. Everyone, have a happy holiday season. Please show lots of love to my song “Bad Person”. My name is Juniel. Thank you and Merry Christmas
